We are a premier research university, and we're proud of it. In fact, the Jacobs School ranks 3 rd in the country for research funding per faculty member. Where there is a hot technology area, chances are we're leading the way: from next generation wireless and sensor networks; to smart cars, medical devices and homeland defense technologies. We encourage undergraduates to participate in research because it is a great way to explore technical interests beyond the classroom. Getting involved is as easy as knocking on a door--our professors are more than willing to take you under their wing. Besides, you get to work in our way cool labs like the world's first bomb blast simulator, the supercomputer center, a virtual reality theater; or our industry-grade nanotechnology labs.
