Lawrence Scholar Program

LLNL provides Ph.D. students a unique opportunity to engage in collaborative research activities through employment assignments that are aligned with LLNL's mission. The student's research must be part of their pursuit of a Ph.D. degree and must be carried out at LLNL. Appointments are awarded on a competitive basis according to the quality of the proposed research program and the strength of the collaborative team. Applications are due by September 18, 2009.

NIH Individual National Research Service Award (NRSA) Submission Update!

The Office of Graduate Studies' new NIH Individual National Research Service Award (NRSA) will now require that all NIH NRSA applications be submitted for review to the Office of Graduate Studies, at least, five days prior to the national deadline.

AAHHE Dissertation Competition 2010

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) and Educational Testing Service (ETS) have announced a 2010 Dissertation Competition. The competition is open to those who have completed a dissertation between June 1, 2007 and August 1, 2009 that either focuses on Hispanics in higher education or on select disciplines by a Hispanic student.

National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellowship

Effective with the August 8, 2009 submission date, all grant applications for the Individual National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellowships (F-series) will require electronic submission through Grants.gov to eRA Commons. Paper applications will not be accepted for submissions on or after the August 8 transition.

National Graduate Student Research Festival Application Period Open!

I am pleased to announce that the National Institutes of Health is actively recruiting candidates to participate in the upcoming National Graduate Student Research Festival, to be held November 12 -13, 2009 in Bethesda, Maryland. We will select up to 200 students to spend two days discussing their research through poster sessions, meeting other students from around the U.S., learning about the research being done at NIH, and exploring postdoctoral training opportunities on the NIH campuses.
