Dale Masterson ('96) Dale's job at ESS is Director and he handles the overall administration of the office. He has also been known to dabble in cycling and almost anything food related. And so, we have lovingly donned him as the official bicycle baking guru. His favorite part of his job is seeing the excitement of new students and the growth of returning ones. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a professional water skier. Now, he would really like to own a yacht to lounge on. He's happiest when traveling someplace new. |
Barbara Devereaux ('52) Barbara's job at ESS is Student Recruitment Officer and she handles undergrad recruitment events and prospective student questions about our engineering programs. She has also been known to dabble in yoga. And so, we have lovingly donned her as the official yogi guru. Her favorite part of her job is asking where students are visiting from and if they are enjoying the San Diego weather. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a kindergarten teacher. Now, she would really like to be a secret agent for the CIA. She's happiest when tasting cheeses from different countries (preferably while visiting that country). |
Sonia Rosas ('64) Sonia's job at ESS is Student Affairs Officer and she handles engineering scholarship activities, Jacobs School Scholars Program, alumni initiatives, diversity and graduate student organization advising, and fellowships. She has also been known to dabble in Aztec Dancing. And so, we have lovingly donned her as the official Aztec Princess. Her favorite part of her job is helping student groups fundraise for their programs and activities. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a hummingbird. Now, she would really like to become a circus acrobat. She's happiest when she is with family and friends. |

Chris Sclafani ('72) Chris's job at ESS is Undergraduate Student Affairs Officer and he handles advising TESC as well as most of the undergraduate organizations, and coordinating the Matching Funds Program. He has also been known to dabble in most sports that he’s probably too old to play such as gymnastics. And so, we have lovingly donned him as the official athletic guru. His favorite part of his job is helping students develop as tomorrow’s leaders. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a grocery store truck driver or an airline pilot. Now, he would really like to be a mattress tester who sleeps all day. He's happiest when he has just finished a marathon and knows an all-you-can-eat brunch is just minutes away. |
Melinda Rose ('60) Melinda's job at ESS is Administrative Assistant and she handles a little bit of everything. She has also been known to dabble in cake decorating. And so, we have lovingly donned her as the official pastry guru. Her favorite part of her job is chatting it up with everyone who walks in the door. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a whale trainer at Sea World. Now, she would really like to enjoy life and travel the world. |

Adam Petersen ('84) Adam's job at ESS is COSMOS Program Specialist and he handles COSMOS accounting, logistics, alumni, residence life, and technical needs. He has also been known to dabble in waterpolo, and, though he is not as fast as he once was, we have lovingly donned him as the official non-cetacean aquatic mammal. His favorite part of his job is getting things off of high shelves for Way-Jen; second place is to see how much the COSMOS students grow in just four short weeks. As a child, he dreamed of becoming a stuntman, or an archaeologist, or a whip-carrying combination of the two, but now he would really just settle for any job that would allow him to swing across ravines and crevasses with a whip. |
Way-Jen Enlow ('62) Way-Jen's job at ESS is the COSMOS Program Assistant and she mostly handles program logistics and parent/student interaction and correspondence. She has also been known to dabble in tennis. And so, we have lovingly donned her the official racquet sport guru. Her favorite part of her job is watching the COSMOS students grow throughout the summer. As a child, she dreamed of becoming an astronaut. But now, she would really like to become a certified paraglider. She is happiest when eating or laughing around good friends. |
