CAP CORNER: Corporate Affiliates Program
- The Jacobs School welcomes LeaningFramework, Inc., Metallic
Power, Quantum Mechanics and Titan Systems Corporation,
the latest companies to become CAP members. For more information
about CAP, contact Kelly Briggs at (858) 534-2329 and visit http://www.jacobsschool.ucsd.edu/external/external_cap/
- The Annual Resume Service was released in mid-January. This service
provides CAP members with the resumés of graduate students within one
year of graduation and seniors with a GPA of 3.0 or above. For more
information about this valuable service, contact Kelly Briggs at (858)
534-2329 or kbriggs@ucsd.edu.
- CAP companies wishing to increase their visibility with Jacobs School
engineering students are invited to participate in a new benefit called
A Day@UCSD/Career Connections. Each company has its own day to
tailor a presentation or activities for students. A Day@UCSD was launched
in the fall quarter and eight CAP companies participated, each of which
had an average attendance of about 20-30 students. The program will
be offered again during the 2002 Spring quarter. For more information,
contact Tatis Cervantes at (858) 534-3148 or ttcervantes@ucsd.edu.
- BAE Systems goes the extra mile with their BAE Scholars Program,
providing financial support to Jacobs School seniors. Last year the
company awarded four scholarships which covered tuition and education
expenses.
- Sony gave 13 televisions to UCSD for the Price Center’s new
VideoNet message generation system. The system will display announcements
of events and activities, and will be visible in high traffic areas.
The monitors will also run live news feeds updated throughout the day
and have cable access to network channels.
- A special thanks to Alan Camaisa, CEO of High Technology Solutions,
for hosting this year’s CAP Reception. This marked the first time the
event was held in a member’s home. The evening was a resounding success
with nearly 200 attending.
