Technology Leader Named Executive Director
of von Liebig Center

|
Rick LeFaivre has been named Executive Director of the School’s
William J. von Liebig Center for Entrepreneurism and Technology Advancement.
LeFaivre brings more than 30 years experience in computer technology R&D,
executive management, and entrepreneurism, most recently as co-founder
of San Diego-based IdeaEdge Ventures.
LeFaivre received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of
Wisconsin, and before turning his attention to industry, was a faculty
member in Rutgers’ computer science department, where he conducted
research on artificial intelligence and advanced programming technology.
Subsequently, LeFaivre spent 11 years as director of Computing and Visual
Systems Research at Tektronix. In 1989 he moved to Silicon Valley and
was an R&D executive at high-technology firms including Sun Microsystems,
Silicon Graphics Computer Systems, and Borland International. He spent
five years as director and then vice president of Apple’s renowned
Advanced Technology Group. LeFaivre joins Abi Barrow, managing director,
in leading the von Liebig Center.
