CAP CORNER: Corporate Affiliates Program
IBM, Intel
and Hitachi Ltd.
recently signed on as new members of
the Center for Wireless Communications, bringing the Jacobs
School research center’s corporate membership to 16.
“These companies are proven technology leaders with
world-class development programs and tremendous marketplace
presence,” said CWC Director Larry Larson. “They
bring additional worldwide perspective to our decision-making
and add to the center’s technology knowledge base. IBM,
Intel and Hitachi Ltd. will undoubtedly make significant contributions
to the research content and directions of the CWC.” |

Enterprises, the latest companies to become CAP members. For

- This year's Corporate Affiliates Program Executive Board leaders include
Chairman Eric Lasley, Vice President of Research & Engineering at
BAE Systems, and Vice Chairman Mark Ambrose, Senior
Manager, Platform Engineering Department with Raytheon Naval
& Maritime Integrated Systems.
- CAP companies wishing to increase their visibility with Jacobs School
engineering students are invited to participate in a new benefit called
A Day @ UCSD/Career Connections. Any CAP member company can tailor a
day for presentation or activity for students. The program will
be offered again during the 2002 Fall quarter. For more information,

- In August 2002, the Jacobs School cut the ribbon on its new $37 million
Powell-Focht Bioengineering Hall. The Fung Auditorium and much of the
building will showcase state-of-the-art multimedia and computing equipment
by CAP member Sony Electronics through a support package
that includes donations and discounts.

CAP member NAVAIR-North Island has graciously agreed to co-host the
annual CAP Reception on November 1, 2002 at the Harbor Inn off Point
Loma. There is no fee required, however, RSVPs are requested. For
