Seven Programs Receive ABET Accreditation
Seven undergraduate programs at the Jacobs School were recently reviewed
by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET),
and all seven were accredited. Programs receiving the ABET stamp of approval
include Aerospace Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Chemical
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Structural
Engineering. ABET accreditation, a voluntary, non-governmental process
of peer review, assures quality in educational institutions and programs
and alerts the public that they have met certain standards. State licensing
boards and certification programs may require graduation from an ABET-accredited
program as the first step in the registration or certification process
for professional practice.
