Flow Control Lab
Stabilization, forecasting, and optimization of multiscale PDE systems. Applications include unsteady aerodynamics, electronics cooling, oil recovery, contaminant plumes, hurricanes, and ocean currents. Adaptive observation with UAVs and AUVs. Derivative-free optimization and computational interconnect design leveraging n-dimensional sphere packings.

Coordinated Robotics Lab
Design and stabilization of highly agile mobile robots.

Capsule Bio:
Thomas Bewley joined the Dynamic Systems and Control Program of MAE in 1998, after completing his Ph.D. at Stanford University. His several research interests lie at the intersections of control and optimization theory, fluid mechanics, Navier-Stokes mathematics, high-performance computing, and robotics.

Prof. Bewley is also the sole author of the comprehensive textbook
Numerical Renaissance: Simulation, Optimization, and Control.
