ResMed is a developer, manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment for treating, diagnosing, and managing sleep-disordered breathing and other respiratory disorders. Sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) includes obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and other respiratory disorders that occur during sleep. ResMed has developed a number of products for SDB and other respiratory disorders including airflow generators, diagnostic products, mask systems, headgear and other accessories. Its R&D and manufacturing operations are located in Australia, Singapore, Ireland, France, Germany and the United States.
 
1. Market Access Analytics Internship  

SUMMARY: Our Market Access analyst intern will work with our internal Market Access team and partner Optum Labs and Mayo Clinic research teams on multiple large database retrospective research projects.  ResMed has partnered with Optum Labs and Mayo to utilize the comprehensive data warehouse to analyze the clinical treatment pathways, outcomes and costs of comorbid sleep disordered breathing with heart failure. We have future plans for additional studies within the database over the course of the year. Data within our approved research protocol are available for use in academic projects. Mayo clinicians and health services researchers will be working with us to enable the most relevant research for future clinical translation. At the outset of the internship we will be establishing the protocol and will rapidly seek to understand the best way to work within the data environment. If available, there may be some limited travel to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN or to Optum Labs in Boston, MA. Intern will have opportunity to participate in developing scientific presentations of the data and in manuscript development with authorship opportunity.

LEARNING GOALS & OBJECTIVES

  • Serve as the primary analyst on the ResMed team in multiple analyses of a large administrative database complimented with some EMR and consumer data.
  • Collaborate on analyses with the Mayo Clinic and Optum Labs research partners.
  • Assist with leveraging research findings in scientific presentations and publications.

Required Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics, computer science or a quantitative degree relevant to healthcare research is required; prefer graduate studies or degree
  • 2 years of SQL experience is required
  • 2 years of R or similar programming experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in learning new programming languages is required
  • 1 year experience in healthcare claims or clinical data is strongly desired; desire to undertake retrospective research in a large administrative database for clinical and health economic studies in partnership with leading academic and healthcare partners
  • Competent to convert research protocol to programming specification logically and meaningfully
  • Demonstrated comfort with technical and business concepts through coursework or prior experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with desire to participate in scientific presentations and publications

As part of the ISSC, the Navy Primary Standards Laboratory (NPSL), provides calibration services worldwide at a level second only to those of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Big Data Analytics

Google it- Teradata is listed first.  A proven leader in big data management and big data analysis for data-driven applications. Assist Advanced Development research by doing performance analysis, feasibility studies, and prototyping in technologies such as Big Data, Hadoop, MapReduce and database extensibility.

Database Engineering

Design and develop enhancements for the Teradata and Aster Data database management software. Includes file system, query optimization and execution and data related tools development.

Platform Engineering

Define platform architecture and specifications to enable Teradata to continue to lead the industry in performance, reliability and availability. Includes software development, installation development, client connectivity, packaging solutions and system integration.

Quality and Test Engineering

Design, build and test production level data warehouse applications. Test deliverables that encompass multiple platform and operating system environments, the Teradata and Aster Data databases and associated tools and utilities. 

Engineering Operations

Support the equipment and lab infrastructure needs of Teradata engineering. Perform new hardware and software system setup and respond to engineering support requests.

Seeking current students pursuing Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees in computer science, computer engineering or related technical disciplines.

Candidates with GPA of 3.0 or greater will be given preferential consideration.

Key curriculum and relevant skills include:

Relational database concepts, data structures and database internals such as file systems & query optimization. Skills in Hadoop and Map Reduce are valued.

1. Rail Trainborne Team Internship  

The Rail Trainborne team is looking for software engineers with experience in software unit testing techniques, in C++, C, and Java.  This project is the opportunity to take an existing suite of unit tests and augment/repair them to increase their value in testing our developed software.  The effort will also consist of investigating opportunities to streamline and improve our unit testing infrastructure to increase efficiency.  The need date is immediate and will last through June (and possibly go through September).  The hours/week is negotiable.

Required Skills:

  •  C++ and C use the Parasoft C++Test tool.  We don't expect prior knowledge to this tool and it can be learned as part of OJT - we just ask the engineers have experience in good unit test practices in C++/C. Any embedded systems experience (including embedded C, and Texas Instruments or QNX products) would be considered a plus, along with at least working familiarity with UNIX-based systems. We are looking for 3 C++/C Unit testers.
  •  Java will be using JUnit which is a commonly used java unit testing framework.  For this reason we would expect engineers to have experience directly with JUnit. Java unit testers should also have at least a working familiarity with UNIX-based systems. We are looking for 2 Java Unit testers.

2. Engineering Internship  

Student internship position for an Engineering student. This position will assist with our growing work in Small Business teaming projects as well as our core work in Command, Control, Computing, Communications, and Infrastructure (C4I) Engineering services. This position will also be utilized for emergent tasking; including research, studies, data evaluation, electrical engineering, data communication, network engineering, and network security on an as needed basis.  Desired Degree:  Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
