Board Member Biography: Richard H. Goldberg

Rich is the Vice President of Corporate Quality at Cisco Systems and a member of Ciscos Operations, Processes and Systems leadership team. Rich joined Cisco in January 2005, having spent 28 years at AT&T.

Rich is responsible for programs to improve customer experience, through product and service quality. Rich had been a customer of Cisco's for a long time and played an important role in driving quality initiatives through a variety of customer forums. He also routinely participates as a speaker and panelist at industry conferences, conventions, academic gatherings, and is an external spokesperson for Cisco.

While at AT&T, Rich served in a variety of roles. His executive responsibilities included Global IP and Packet Network Engineering, Network IP and Data Network Services, Network Information and Recording Technology, and Network Continuity and Disaster Recovery. Rich began his career at Bell Laboratories where he worked on field studies to improve the service quality and performance of their switched network, and the planning and design of nationwide voice-data-video networks for AT&Ts largest corporate customers.

Rich served as the Executive in Residence at the Jacobs School of Engineering at the University of California San Diego, and is currently Chair of the executive board of the Corporate Affiliates Program there. As the Executive in Residence, Rich provided consultation on research and education with senior officials of the Jacobs School. He also lectured to students in management, systems engineering, and project management.

Rich has attended the Executive Program in Business at the University of Michigan. He has a Ph.D. in Physics from Caltech, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Rich is a member of IEEE. He and his wife Linda have three children, residing in Los Gatos, CA.
