Aaron Wang, '02
Bioengineering

After earning a Bioengineering degree at UCSD in 2002, Wang went on to Stanford for dual MD/Ph.D. degrees. He will finish his Ph.D. in BioE in about a year (thesis: Ultrasound detection/treatment of internal bleeding) and then his MD in two more. Wang is pictured with his parents and his sister Tina Wang and brother-in-law Michael Houston who are in Cupertino (both also Jacobs School alumni, pictured last issue).

Jon Haller, '96
Structural Engineering
Program Manager, Entrega Systems Group Inc.

Jon recently completed the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. He currently works as a Program Manager at Entrega Systems Group, Inc. building custom software applications for a variety of clients.

He has two sons, Alex and Zac, who are three and one, respectively.

On Saturday, April 26th, my granddaughter Elizabeth Belle Gainey was born.

I also just completed teaching my first course at Indiana Institute of Technology.

Later, in August of this year I will begin studies in pursuit of an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University through the online program, Kelley Direct.

Chris Humphrey, '89
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Vice President of Innovation, Sperian

Chris is currently Vice President of Innovation with Sperian, a global leader in personal protective technologies based in Paris, France. Sperian develops a wide variety of products that include self-contained breathing apparatuses for firefighters, specialized hearing protection, communication equipment, sophisticated eye protection and gas detection devices. Chris' duties include technology scouting and working with Universities and Private labs.

"It's rewarding to work on technologies that protect and save people's lives", says Chris.

Chris graduated from UCSD in 1989 with a B.S. in Systems and Control Engineering and a B.A. in Theater. He has been happily married for the last 17 years and is very proud of his twin 16-year old boys, who are now sophomores in High School.

Jeannine Menger, '86

Allergan Pharmaceuticals

In 1986, Jim Menger graduated from UCSD with a computer science degree and in 1979 with a literature degree. "UCSD carries great weight in the job market and my education prepared me well for my field." In 1995, Menger completed a sex change and took the name Jeannine. "I could not be happier or more complete. The UCSD degree really helped me through the tough times," she says. Jeannine Menger now works at Allergan Pharmaceuticals in Irvine and is in the band Working Class.

Superintendent, Black Oak Mine Unified School District

I have been Superintendent of the Black Oak Mine Unified School District since 2004. After a year spent programming computers, I have since spent 26 years as an educator. My wife Suzy and I live in Cool, CA and have two children, Zack (19) and Gabe (16). Zack is a communications major at UCSD!
