The United States is a leader in scientific and technological innovation with positive results for the standard of living worldwide. Continuing this progress is not guaranteed; we must re-energize our support for education and fundamental research, while providing a suitable climate for innovative business and investment. Our nation's competitiveness depends on our renewed commitment to science and engineering progress, and supporting national policies.
