Short description:
Development of uncertainty quantification, solution verification, and model validation technology for engineering applications and weapon physics projects.

Capsule Bio:
François Hemez has been Technical Staff Member at Los Alamos National Laboratory since 1997. He was a member of the Weapon Response group (ESA-WR) for seven years; served as ESA-WR Validation Methods team leader for one year; and is currently with X Division. He is contributing to the development of technology for solution verification, model validation, uncertainty quantification, and decision-making applied to engineering and weapon physics projects. Dr. Hemez is the co-developer of a short course on uncertainty quantification and model Verification and Validation (V&V). He serves as chair-person of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) technical division on model validation and uncertainty quantification (elected, 2005-2008 term), and is a member of AIAA and SEM. In 2005, he received the Junior Research Award of the European Association of Structural Dynamics. Dr. Hemez has authored over 190 peer-reviewed publications, conference papers, and reports since 1992.
